NEWS | Applications open for the CANA Small Grants Program

Does your organisation need funding for your next community organising project? The Climate Action Network Australia's Small Grants Program is now open for applications.

Climate Action Network Australia (CANA) is looking to support your ideas around empowering local action and building grassroots interests within your community. What does it mean to your community to advocate for a rapid transformation to zero emissions?

2021 has been impacted significantly by COVID-19, but people have adapted and found ways and means to continue their work with local action groups through grassroots projects. CANA looks forward to hearing the outcomes of those projects over the coming months.

During 2020 the Hunter Community Alliance utilised a CANA grant to deliver a Hunter-wide listening campaign to identify the issues and stories that motivate people in their region. The group facilitated a series of discussions to learn about community experiences and perspectives on the region's future transition from coal. The projects provided a space for the deepening of relationships and connections with community leaders which has been used to develop strategic direction and policy agendas for local government elections and further a 2yr plan for members to carry the listening campaign forward.

The group reported the grant funding was critical to the organisation’s launch period and they now have a path towards sustainable membership funding for a full time organiser role.

Join the list of local action groups who have received CANA grants and who continue to engage highly impacted, diverse and emerging communities at a grassroots level to build people power across the climate movement.

Apply for up to $10K with the CANA Small Grants Program now. Applications close on the 16th August 2021.
