Winners of the 2025 Health Care Climate Challenge!

Thursday 06 November 2025

The winners of the 2025 Health Care Climate Challenge (HCCC) were announced at the recent Climate and Health Summit on Yugambeh/Kombumerri Country (Gold Coast)! Five Pacific health institutions have been recognised for their climate action within the health sector.

All five organisations are members of the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals Network in the Pacific region, coordinated regionally by the Climate and Health Alliance (CAHA).

Every year, Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) celebrates institutions that are leading climate action in the Pacific region with the Climate Challenge Awards. These hospitals and health systems are challenging the status quo by finding solutions to reduce health care’s climate footprint and enhance the industry’s resilience. They are inspiring the healthcare sector around the world to follow in their footsteps. 2025 marks 10 years of the Health Care Climate Challenge.

The 2025 categories are as follows:

  • Health Care Climate Action Awards - cover the three pillars of the Challenge: Mitigation, Leadership, and Resilience. Depending on the number and nature of actions reported, participants may receive a Silver Award or a Gold Award.
  • Health Care Climate Champions Awards - this high level award celebrates the top institution of each region that stood out for their ambitious, comprehensive, and consistent work in climate action throughout the year.
  • Health Care Climate Commitment Cohort of 2025 - climate leaders with a strong commitment to comprehensive climate action and a dedication to continuously improving sustainable practices across the three pillars of climate action.
