You're invited! Climate-health forum in WA

Friday 22 November 2019

The Climate and Health Alliance (CAHA) will co-host a Forum in Perth with Doctors for the Environment Australia (DEA) on the risks and opportunities for the health sector in WA.

The current WA Climate Health Inquiry provides an opportunity for health experts and professionals to contribute to climate action planning.

Recent legal opinion makes it clear that health service executives and directors of health service boards have a responsibility to respond to and prepare for climate change risks. Climate change poses a material risk to healthcare service delivery - and health leaders are increasingly likely to be closely scrutinised and held to account for climate risk management – especially given rising standards demanded of private corporations.

This forum will provide:

  • an overview of the risks and opportunities posed by climate change in relation to climate change and health, including legal liability;
  • an insight into climate and health policy around Australia and internationally;
  • an update on the Climate Health WA Inquiry;
  • a discussion about pathways forward in climate and health in W.A.
