The Queensland Premier's Sustainability award has been won by Mater Health Services, for their outstanding energy efficiency initiatives.

The service, which operates seven hospitals in Queensland, has been recognised for its efforts to dramatically reduce energy and water needs, while slashing costs and investing savings back into patient care. $3.5 million has been saved since 2008, and 185 tonnes of clinical waste per year has been eliminated.
